How to check the discount is real
- Look for the mandatory prior price. In the European Union, when a price reduction is announced the seller must state the lowest price applied in the previous 30 days. If the shop only shows a struck-through «recommended retail price», that is not a markdown: it is a comparison with a price nobody was paying.
- Check the history. A price tracker — or simply a screenshot you took a month ago — dismantles most fake offers.
- Compare the final price, not the percentage. 60 % off with €9.90 shipping can cost more than 30 % off with free delivery.
- Distrust countdowns. If reloading the page restarts the timer, it is decoration.

Toys: what a discount should never touch
